Teens Share Their ‘Most Meaningful’ Houston Relief Mission Moments
For Daniella Volkov (left), a junior at Walter Payton College Prep, seeing is believing.
She says she appreciated the trip’s focus on food insecurity, with mission participants volunteering at the Houston Food Bank, and also preparing bagged lunches for the homeless.
But it was seeing the impact of her efforts that touched Daniella the most.
At the food bank, the teens sorted and packed 7,000 lbs. of food – enough to feed a family of 6 for year. They also prepared bagged lunches for the homeless, which they hand delivered.
“Getting to give meals to homeless people and seeing how happy it made them, [helped me] know for sure we were making a difference,” Daniella says.
