A Light that Stays Lit

One of Audrey Fine’s (l.) most meaningful moments on TJJ was one she never thought she’d get to have — keeping her first Shabbat, in Israel.

“I kept my first Shabbat on this trip,” says Audrey, an incoming senior at Clayton High School in St. Louis, “which is something I will remember forever.”

For Audrey, that Shabbat has already outlasted the trip itself. She came home inspired to light Shabbat candles every Friday night — a new ritual sparked by a single moment thousands of miles from home.

“I was so honestly overjoyed that I was able to go on this trip,” she says, “and make so many amazing connections and memories with all of my advisors.”

Audrey came home from TJJ with new friendships, new memories, and a weekly ritual that will keep the trip alive long after summer ends.
